As suggested above, I support Wilson’s conclusion that the editorial purpose of the Psalter was to address the failure of the Davidic covenant in light of the exile and dispersion. I agree that Books IV and V provide an answer to the problem documented in Books I–III; however, my additional concern is to point out that Books I–III themselves already begin to answer the problem posed by the exile, dispersion and oppression of Israel by the nations in the postexilic era.
